Once labour started, from my perspective, whenever Karen experienced the surges, she would go inside herself and breathe through them. She appeared calm and relaxed.
Karen moved into different positions; bear position, and then squatting on an exercise ball. She talked a little bit between surges and I supported her with the affirmations that we had learned from Marie.
I believe that this training helps parents to be active participants in the birth rather than patients at the hospital.
Sometimes the doctors forget to do that and Marie reminded us that birthing is not just about the end result of birth but also about the journey on the way to that birth.
It helped make our journey that much better.
The techniques we learned in the course kept us calm and relaxed throughout the whole labour and delivery, and made it an amazing experience for our family.
